China's Shanghai Composite Index opened down 7.47 points (-0.20%) at 3,816.15 on Sept. 29. The Shenzhen Composite Index opened down 19.14 points (-0.15%) at 12,839.61. The CSI 300 Index opened down 4.95 points (-0.11%) at 4,335.81. The ChiNext Index opened down 3.30 points (-0.11%) at 3,136.53. The STAR 50 Index opened up 2.68 points (+0.17%) at 1,558.66.

Sept 29 — Minister Zhang Zhu told a State Council Information Office briefing the ministry will step up policy support for grain production to encourage planting. Measures cited include stronger price subsidies, expanded insurance and coordinated policy measures, plus tighter coordination of production, procurement and imports to keep grain prices at reasonable levels and ensure farmers can calculate returns and earn a profit.
