Chinese Vice Minister of Agriculture Zhang Zhili and Canadian Deputy Minister of
Agriculture Lawrence Hansen co-chaired the 13th China-Canada Joint Agricultural
Committee in Ottawa. The meeting formalized the committee's restart and returned
China-Canada agricultural dialogue to an institutionalized, regular footing.
China proposed broadening engagement under the existing mechanism by setting up
working groups on agricultural technology, soil health and the seed industry.
Both sides said they will expand cooperation across multiple levels and areas,
guided by leaders' strategic consensus, and move agreed priorities toward
implementation.
