UK Prime Minister Andy Burnham told the Labour party annual conference in Liverpool he will break with the past to build a “new economy” and “new politics,” blaming Brexit and long-term privatization for loss of control over borders and public services. He pledged to strengthen public-sector control of the water and energy sectors and said he will set out plans to reform the social care system. Burnham added he is prepared to pursue measures predecessors avoided and will not shy away from politically difficult issues.
