IMF spokesperson Julie Kozack said at an Oct. 1 briefing that US‑Iran
hostilities are weighing on the global economy, disproportionately affecting
countries with limited policy buffers and energy net importers. She flagged
particular concern for countries that have not integrated into AI supply chains
and thus are not capturing AI‑driven growth—most of them low‑income and fragile
states—some of which already have IMF programs and are being engaged closely by
the Fund.
