Broadcom (AVGO.O)'s Wall Street syndicate has begun raising about $60 billion in
debt to finance AI chips and infrastructure for firms including ANTHROPIC,
people familiar with the matter said. Banks are preparing to invite investors to
underwrite a $42 billion Class A senior secured debt, while Blackstone is
leading an $18 billion Class B subordinated tranche and plans to commit $9
billion from its funds, with the remainder to be syndicated. The package has
been in the works for weeks; Wall Street and Silicon Valley investors are
watching to gauge appetite to fund AI infrastructure expansion. Broadcom is
seeking to sell more chips and data‑center equipment to compete with NVIDIA, and
AI firms such as ANTHROPIC require increasing compute capacity; people said in
August the potential deal would help them secure chips and other key AI
infrastructure.
