TSMC is considering a new manufacturing campus in Texas that would add tens of billions of dollars to its multi-year U.S. expansion. Insiders say the plan would include multiple fabs, with each plant costing at least $20 billion if pursued. North America has accounted for more than 75% of TSMC’s wafer revenue year-to-date, and large orders from AI chip designers such as NVIDIA and AMD are driving demand for advanced nodes; the company’s co-COO has said the AI boom is already pressuring existing capacity.
