After a two-month selloff that wiped out more than $1 trillion in market value,
investors piled back into NVIDIA; the stock intraday hit a fresh all-time high,
up as much as 2.9%. Recent optimism that AI agents such as Meta’s Muse will
boost semiconductor demand has supported the rally. Shares received an extra
lift after NVIDIA on Monday raised its buyback program by a record $150 billion.
Sentiment had swung in prior months amid doubts about whether companies would
commit hundreds of billions to AI infrastructure and concerns over AI safety.
NVIDIA is up about 27% year-to-date and is on track for a fourth straight year
of double-digit gains; market cap is roughly $5.7 trillion, less than $300
billion shy of $6 trillion.
