Three U.S. officials told Axios that multiple senior members of President
Trump’s core cabinet met behind closed doors at Camp David on Friday for several
hours to discuss next steps on a war with Iran and the Saudi–Houthi conflict in
Yemen. The session, chaired by Vice President Vance, included Secretary of State
Rubio, Defense Secretary Hegseth, White House envoy Witkoff, CIA Director
Ratcliffe and Joint Chiefs Chair Gen. Keane. The meeting was unannounced and
unusually rare; officials said the last comparable meeting was in June 2025,
days before Israel moved against Iran. An official said some things have been
decided, or at least deeply discussed. The White House declined to comment. When
asked by reporters during the Camp David gathering, Trump said: If I told you,
you’d have blockbuster news. But you’ll see. Things are going very well. Iran is
not in a good position.
