On the 4th, Iranian foreign ministry spokesman BAGHAEI said Iran briefed Qatari
mediators during a brief visit and that the U.S. plan relayed via Qatar largely
mirrors prior U.S. positions focused on Iran's nuclear program. He said Iran's
immediate priority is security in the Strait of Hormuz and that securing or
restoring safety there would require concrete U.S. steps, including stopping
interference with Iranian commercial shipping, lifting sanctions and ceasing
other interventionist measures. BAGHAEI added Iran has reviewed the U.S.
concerns transmitted via Qatar, will investigate certain details and will
provide supplementary comments.
