A series of cyberattacks that caused personal data leaks has prompted South Korean financial regulators to order firms to complete internal security checks and report results to authorities. Korea Financial Services Commission (FSC) chair Lee Eog-weon, after an emergency meeting with industry executives, said the entire financial sector must carry out rapid, thorough inspections. Preliminary probes found some attacks targeted under‑monitored external websites and servers used by loan agents and staff; regulators said they cannot rule out the use of AI in the attacks and urged accelerated deployment of systems that can use AI to defend against AI-driven attacks. South Korea's president Lee has been briefed and ordered a full investigation and response plan.

MOFCOM said at mid-holiday that China’s consumer market remained stable and orderly in the first half of the National Day holiday; essential goods were well supplied and prices stable. MOFCOM commercial data showed that in the first three days footfall and turnover across 78 monitored shopping districts rose 3.4% and 5.3% YoY.
