On Oct. 4 Turkey’s foreign ministry said the Strategic Political and Defense
Committee, established under the Mecca joint defense pact, will meet on Oct. 5
in Riyadh. Officials from Turkey, Saudi Arabia and Pakistan will discuss recent
regional developments and progress toward institutionalizing the alliance.
Pakistan’s deputy prime minister and foreign minister Dar earlier said the
emergency meeting would consider possible political engagement with Yemen’s
Houthi movement.
