Chris Williamson, chief business economist at S&P Global Market Intelligence,
said eurozone services growth in September was the fastest since last November,
with the PMI composite implying about 0.4% QoQ expansion and likely further
growth into Q4. Germany and France returned to services expansion for the first
time since March; Italy posted a fourth consecutive month of expansion and Spain
its strongest growth in four months, with overall activity at a five‑year high.
Survey input‑price inflation rose to 4%, suggesting inflation is moving toward
the ECB’s 2% target ceiling and increasing pressure for more aggressive ECB
tightening.
