Nonprofit UANI said in a routine shipping update on Oct. 5 that a U.S. blockade
has left dozens of tankers loaded with Iranian oil stranded near Iran and
anchored in other waters. At least 50 tankers laden with Iranian oil remain near
Iran, roughly unchanged from two months earlier; most carry crude, with some
refined products and LPG. UANI said some empty ships are anchoring across the
Indian Ocean–Pacific region rather than returning to Iranian ports; 20
Iran-flagged vessels are anchored near Sri Lanka and one is near Oman.
