The Port of Los Angeles and Port of Long Beach — the largest and second-largest
US container gateways — said they expect deeper cooperation with China, saying
stable US-China ties are critical for cargo flows, jobs and supply-chain
stability. Los Angeles Executive Director Gene Seroka said stable bilateral
relations help safeguard freight movement and employment. Long Beach's Hasegawa
said the ports have worked with China for decades and that trade with China
accounts for about 40% of their volumes; he added stability would mean steadier
throughput, stronger exports, lower supply-chain costs and clearer investment
planning.
