HSBC economists say seasonally adjusted Asian electronics shipments have fallen
sharply in recent months, including Taiwan, a key chip supplier. South Korean
exports still expand, underpinned by firm advanced memory prices, but prices for
other electronics in the AI-hardware supply chain have begun to soften. HSBC
notes the AI-hardware-led export impulse boosting Asian export values is
slowing; this is unsurprising as U.S. hyperscale cloud providers sharply raised
spending earlier and capex growth is likely to moderate after that rapid
expansion.
