President Sheinbaum said on the 5th Mexico will strengthen security deployments along the border and conduct a new round of “mirror operations” with the U.S. in response to recent developments. U.S. officials have alleged shots were fired from the Mexican side toward the U.S.; Mexico has requested evidence but has not obtained material confirming the claim, and Mexico’s National Guard, Defense Ministry and Navy have found no such shooting. To prevent similar incidents, Mexico’s Defense Ministry and Navy, via the foreign ministry, have communicated directly with U.S. Northern Command and the Coast Guard to propose mirror operations in Tamaulipas along the Texas border, deploying forces on both banks of the Rio Grande for synchronized patrols.
