U.S. Secretary of State Rubio said on Tuesday during a visit to Reykjavik that
the United States and Iceland want to strengthen security and defense
cooperation. He called Iceland’s geography critical to European defense and U.S.
homeland defense and said Washington is open to discussions on additional areas
of cooperation that serve both countries’ interests. Rubio held meetings with
Iceland’s foreign minister and later with the prime minister.
