The 2026 Nobel Peace Prize will be announced Friday, Oct. 9. Although several
national leaders reportedly nominated U.S. President Trump, experts say his
chances are slim, citing the ongoing war in Iran as a key reason. The committee
received 287 nominations this year — 208 individuals and 79 organizations — but
does not publish candidate lists; reported contenders include Canadian Prime
Minister Carney, the International Space Station, Ukrainian child-rights
advocate Mykola Kuleba, Save the Children, Sudanese civil network Emergency
Response Room and the Committee to Protect Journalists. The ISS is cited as one
of the few remaining symbols of sustained multinational cooperation amid rising
global conflict.
