European Commission President Von der Leyen said the EU will grant methane exporters a one-year extension on the transition period for its methane emissions regulation. She said Brussels will launch a strategic dialogue with the European refining sector to lower costs and will propose measures in the coming months to raise electricity’s share of overall energy demand. Von der Leyen warned high energy costs are straining businesses and households and could worsen ahead of winter, so immediate action is required.
