Oct. 5 — Houthi forces posted videos saying they used a new homebuilt attack
drone named Shawaz in combat for the first time and launched homemade ballistic
missiles toward the Bab al-Mandeb; the Houthis said the missiles dealt a
'devastating strike' on enemy concentrations. On the same day the
government-aligned Giants Brigade released footage from around Dhubab near the
Bab al-Mandeb and said it had retaken those areas from the Houthis; later the
government said it had recaptured the key Red Sea port of MOCHA in Taiz
province. Houthi spokesman Yahya Sarea said on Oct. 6 via social media that the
movement still controls recently seized areas and dismissed government claims of
victory as propaganda.
