Microsoft (MSFT.O) unveiled the Surface Laptop Ultra, powered by an NVIDIA chip,
saying it is set to begin shipping with a $2,599 entry price. At a San Francisco
event on Wednesday, Microsoft said the device, when running local models,
returns prompt results about twice as fast as Apple’s MacBook Pro M5 and
generates video roughly six times faster. The laptop supports both
general-purpose and AI compute. NVIDIA CEO Jensen Huang joined Microsoft CEO
Nadella on stage to discuss the chip’s development. Microsoft’s entry price is
about $400 below the 16-inch entry MacBook Pro.
