The U.S. embassy in Riyadh issued a security alert after Iran-backed Houthi
militants struck Saudi airports, advising U.S. citizens to expect flight
cancellations, airspace closures and travel disruptions. The Houthis have
attacked Saudi airports four times this week, including an inland strike on
Riyadh's King Khalid International Airport. Saudi aviation authorities said the
Oct. 6-7 attacks killed three people, including one at King Khalid. The embassy,
which had earlier urged Americans to avoid areas near the Yemen border and
restricted U.S. government employee travel, said government personnel now
require special authorization to transit King Khalid.
