Russian President Putin met Iran President Pezeshkian in Turkmenistan on Oct. 8.
Putin said the Middle East conflict is not Iran’s fault, that Iran is working to
end the fighting, and that Russia is willing to help Tehran push to ease
regional tensions. Pezeshkian said Iran has proposed a solution, the U.S. has
put forward a new plan, and Iran is revising that U.S. proposal; once revisions
are complete Iran intends to arrange a meeting with U.S. officials through
mediators.
