At a special summit of Caspian littoral heads, President PEZESHKIAN called for strengthened environmental cooperation to address falling Caspian Sea levels and warned against external interference. He said regional peace and lasting security depend on mutual respect for sovereignty and preventing the Caspian from becoming a stage for destructive competition or outside powers' intervention. PEZESHKIAN condemned military strikes on coastal facilities, ports, ships and industrial infrastructure, citing US and Israeli attacks on Anzali port during the war of aggression against Iran and a Ukrainian attack on an Iranian merchant vessel, saying such actions threaten regional security and carry potential cross-border environmental consequences that should be strongly condemned by all littoral states.
