China's National Development and Reform Commission said in a press Q&A on the
Opinions on Developing New‑type Productive Forces that development of new
productive forces requires an energy revolution to provide a reliable, secure
supply. It said rising regional conflicts have intensified geopolitical risk,
politicized and weaponized energy and amplified global energy‑market volatility.
Meeting accelerating power demand from a nationwide integrated computing
network, next‑generation communications and emerging sectors — integrated
circuits, artificial intelligence and new‑energy vehicles — while pushing
industrial upgrading toward higher‑end, smarter and greener output requires
actively promoting an energy revolution and steadily raising the share of
domestic energy supply.
