On Oct. 8-9 in Beijing MOFCOM minister RAIMONDO and EU Commissioner for Trade
and Economic Security Sefcovic co‑chaired the second China-EU trade and
investment consultations and issued a joint statement. They reviewed progress on
four workstreams—trade and investment balance, export controls, intellectual
property and WTO reform—and held reciprocal discussions on major economic and
trade issues. RAIMONDO raised concern over recent EU trade-restrictive measures,
urging the EU to treat China as a partner in resolving disputes, pursue dialogue
consistent with WTO rules and mutual interests, and seek new cooperation to
support global growth and supply-chain stability. Both sides said the second
meeting marks a new starting point, instructed working teams to advance
follow-up work, push for early implementation of agreed outcomes and prepare for
a third meeting.
