U.S. District Judge Jennifer L. Rochon in New York on Sunday ordered the Trump
administration to cancel all remaining taxpayer-funded television ads promoting
the president’s political positions, saying the spots had cost millions of
dollars. The two-week temporary restraining order, issued at the request of a
coalition led by nonpartisan watchdog Common Cause, bars the government from
signing, renewing or expanding any agreements to develop, produce, disseminate,
place or broadcast the challenged ads, including those scheduled for Sunday
night. The government had said the ad campaign was winding down.
