Front-month palm oil futures gapped down at midday and turned negative, trading at 9,611 yuan/t after earlier rising more than 1%. Malaysia's MPOB monthly report showed September palm oil stocks at 3.51 mln t, above market expectations of 3.37–3.45 mln t and at a record high.

TikTok CEO Shou Zi Chew and Microsoft executive Judson Althoff warned at separate Singapore events that global enthusiasm for AI may be excessive and the technology remains immature. They said cybersecurity, not hypothetical long-term AI threats, is the more immediate risk as companies rush to adopt AI. Chew said humans still outperform AI in many creative tasks, in fine-grained visual recognition and in long-term memory retrieval. Althoff said: 'I want to separate hype from reality. There is no development path where unlimited cognitive compute ultimately replaces human goals and values.' Both urged firms to better understand AI-related cybersecurity risks, which Chew described as 'quite real' in the near term.
