China's National Railway Administration issued the Railway Science and
Technology Innovation 15th Five-Year Plan, directing integrated development of
next‑generation communications for railways. The plan calls for deeper
deployment of 5G‑R and 400 MHz digital communications, next‑generation bearer
networks and integrated access technologies to support multi‑service railway
use; wider adoption of HD video surveillance along lines and onboard and rollout
of 5G‑R‑based remote equipment operation and maintenance; accelerated
application of Beidou across design, construction, transport production and
operations/maintenance; early‑stage 6G research and scenario design; and
exploration of satellite‑terrestrial integrated railway communication networks
that fuse LEO broadband satellite internet.
