China Association of Automobile Manufacturers (CAAM) says vehicle production and
sales dipped modestly in Jan–Sep 2026, with the market showing domestic weakness
and strong external demand. Exports continued to grow rapidly despite a
challenging external environment, and new energy vehicle (NEV) penetration rose
steadily. In September 2026 vehicle production was 2.99 mln and sales 2.956 mln,
up 11.4% and 9.0% month-on-month respectively, and down 8.7% and 8.4%
year-on-year. For Jan–Sep 2026 production totaled 23.246 mln and sales 23.271
mln, both down 4.5% YoY.
