The IMF raised India’s growth forecast in its World Economic Outlook, upgrading
the fiscal year to March 2027 by 0.6 percentage point to 7.0% and the following
fiscal year by 0.3 percentage point to 7.0%. About 47% of economies saw downward
revisions, but the IMF said India remains one of the fastest-growing major
economies, with stronger-than-expected momentum supported by resilient domestic
demand and an active services sector. The fund cited favorable demographics, an
expanding domestic market and ongoing structural reforms as evidence of higher
growth potential.
