Rio Tinto's third-quarter copper production was steady as strong output at
Mongolia's Oyu Tolgoi offset declines elsewhere. Copper accounted for more than
one-third of Rio's 1H earnings; copper production in the three months to
end-September was 205,000 tonnes. Iron ore remains Rio's largest revenue source;
as the company gradually increases output from its Simandou JV in Guinea, Q3
iron ore shipments rose 3% YoY to 90.8 million tonnes.
