BOT Deputy Governor Piti Disyatat said at the IMF and World Bank annual meetings
that AI infrastructure spending has produced clear demand-side effects in
Thailand, boosting domestic investment growth and supporting exports. He warned
current large-scale AI outlays mainly reflect demand priced ahead of expected
future supply capacity, while supply-side changes that materially raise
productivity will take longer to appear: "You will not see these productivity
gains now or next year," he said, adding that once they materialize their pace
could exceed expectations. He stressed a timing gap between short-term stimulus
from AI investment and any sustained productivity-driven growth, and that the
current infrastructure boom should not be taken as immediate efficiency gains.
