On Oct. 14 local time the Hamburg Higher Regional Court opened the criminal
trial into the 2022 Nord Stream gas pipeline explosions. Ukrainian national
Sergey Kuznetsov appeared in court on charges of involvement in the blasts.
German judicial authorities called the hearing a significant step in criminal
accountability; with the case entering trial, the attacks’ execution, individual
responsibility and potential external orchestration have returned to
international attention.
