UKMTO reports a container ship was struck by an unidentified projectile on Oct 13 while entering the Strait of Hormuz; the vessel reported minor damage.

The China National Institute of Standardization published the China Hydrogen Industry Standardization Blue Book (2026), reporting 180 national hydrogen energy standards currently in force. The Energy Law, to take effect in 2025, will for the first time include hydrogen under national energy management; the 15th Five-Year Plan designates hydrogen a strategic future industry and five integrated hydrogen-application pilot city clusters have been approved. China’s hydrogen sector is moving from demonstration to scale and standardization has been elevated as a strategic priority.

At end-September total deposits (RMB and FX) were 357.52 tln yuan, up 7.6% YoY; RMB deposits were 349.45 tln yuan, up 7.5% YoY. In Jan–Sep RMB deposits rose 20.76 tln yuan: household deposits +9.39 tln, non-financial corporate deposits +3.16 tln, fiscal deposits +1.63 tln, non-bank financial institutions +4.41 tln. At end-September foreign-currency deposits were $1.20 tln, up 17.7% YoY; FX deposits increased $139.4 bln in Jan–Sep.
