JP Morgan has added nuclear generation and power-grid investments to the list of
projects eligible under its $1tn green-financing target. The bank said the
change is intended to help meet a historic surge in power demand while
supporting affordability and supply security. Heather Zichal, head of the bank’s
energy and environment center and sustainable strategy, said the move is part of
a review of its $2.5tn sustainable-goals framework. JP Morgan said it aims to
lead electrification financing and be a preferred lender for grid projects. CEO
Jamie Dimon has identified energy infrastructure as a key element of the bank’s
$1.5tn safety and resilience program launched last year to support US national
security.
