China's ChangXin Memory Technologies (CXMT) released a new memory architecture,
prompting a sharp pullback in global memory stocks. On Oct 13 Samsung
Electronics and SK Hynix shares fell over 7%; losses narrowed and stabilized on
Oct 14. Analysts say the drop is partly a short-term sentiment overshoot but
also reflects a longer-term reappraisal of foreign vendors' monopoly moat, and
that the server market may see increasing divergence.
