MOFCOM spokesperson He Yadong said at a regular briefing on the 15th that China is willing to continue facilitating export-license approvals for rare earths to the EU and hopes the EU will reciprocate by easing key license cases for dual-use items to China. China and the EU will continue to use the export-control dialogue mechanism to promote trade in dual-use items.

Researchers at the University of Science and Technology of China and the Jinan Quantum Technology Research Institute reported a high‑efficiency, low‑noise quantum frequency conversion from 393 nm (UV) to 1,550 nm (telecom) that enables interfacing trapped‑ion memories with optical fiber. The team led by Pan Jianwei, Zhang Qiang and Zheng Mingyang said the result sets an international record for conversion efficiency and noise in this wavelength range and provides key technology for remote interconnection of trapped‑ion nodes in scalable quantum networks. The findings are published in Physical Review Letters.
