An IMF report cited by Japanese media on Oct. 14 projects Japan’s GDP will be
overtaken by India and the UK in 2027, cutting Japan’s ranking from fourth to
sixth. The report attributes the shift to Japan’s weaker growth versus India and
the UK and to yen depreciation that compresses GDP when converted into USD.
