A MOFCOM spokesperson said the revision of the Catalogue of Technologies Prohibited or Restricted from Export follows Article 20 of the Foreign Trade Law of the PRC, under which the State Council department in charge of foreign trade, together with other relevant State Council departments, formulates and publishes export prohibition/restriction catalogues. MOFCOM and the Ministry of Science and Technology have repeatedly adjusted the Catalogue since 2001, adding and removing entries and establishing this as standard practice. The current revision is routine, being carried out in accordance with law and regulations, and is not aimed at any specific country, region or entity.
