House Foreign Affairs Committee Democratic ranking member Gregory W. Meeks
introduced a bipartisan Prohibit Corrupt Russian Oil Transactions Act aimed at
blocking a reported Trump-Putin deal to buy and import Russian diesel. The bill
would prohibit the U.S. International Development Finance Corporation from
investing in Russia’s energy sector, revoke existing OFAC general licenses and
bar future issuance of such licenses, and require the administration to impose
sanctions on Russia’s energy sector.
