On Oct. 16 President Trump said the White House press secretary role may not
suit Katie Zakaria and that he has told her to reconsider the position; he will
speak with her. A White House official said Zakaria is preparing to leave the
post. Zakaria was appointed on Oct. 9 after former press secretary Leavitt
departed in late August. Her Oct. 13 debut briefing drew criticism for poor
performance and allegations of resume falsification. She had served as a senior
communications adviser at Trump Media & Technology Group’s Truth Social,
previously was a Department of Homeland Security spokesperson and deputy
assistant secretary for public affairs, and has been a regular commentator on
conservative outlets including Fox News.
