CENTCOM spokesman Navy Col. Tim Hawkins said the vast majority of Iranian
attempts to attack ships in the Strait of Hormuz have failed and the waterway
remains open. He said US forces have coordinated protection enabling thousands
of vessels to transit and estimated roughly 97% of ships attempting to pass were
not struck by Iranian projectiles. Hawkins added the Islamic Revolutionary Guard
Corps’ actions are unjustified and have not succeeded in closing the strait;
shipping continues to transit.
