Mutual strikes between Russia and Ukraine over the weekend have dimmed prospects
for resuming Black Sea grain exports, reviving global supply concerns and
prompting buyers to seek alternative shipments. Chicago wheat front-month
futures rose as much as 0.8% on Monday after sliding last week to their lowest
intraday level since August. Earlier signs that Russia could export via Baltic
ports and expectations of near-term harvests in Australia and other exporters
had eased worries; renewed tensions raise the risk of tighter global supplies.
