ShanghaiTech University said China's national major science infrastructure
SHINE, a hard X-ray free-electron laser, has produced first light. The system
used a 4 GeV continuous-wave superconducting linac to drive 18 undulator lines
(4 m length, 55 mm period); the project said this marks a key step toward
completion and commissioning by end-2027.
