Oct. 21 — At a regular briefing, Taiwan Affairs Office spokesperson Zhang Han was asked about U.S. President Trump again calling TSMC the world’s top chipmaker and reportedly speaking with TSMC chairman Wei Zhejia. Zhang said Taiwan’s industrial competitiveness is the product of generations of industry, entrepreneurs and researchers and is a shared asset of the Taiwanese people. He accused Taiwan’s DPP authorities of callously selling off inherited assets, saying their actions have consumed decades of effort and ultimately harmed Taiwan’s industry and public interest.
