SpaceX (SPCX.O) and Tesla (TSLA.O) have each formed special committees of independent directors to explore a potential merger, Elon Musk said on SpaceX’s earnings call. Musk said he cannot participate in discussions because of a conflict of interest but called a tie‑up “a good idea.” He cited potential synergies in AI, chips, robotics and communications connectivity, but stressed a deal is not certain and that it would be “overstating” to say it is done. Any transaction would require approval from 50% of Tesla shareholders, which he described as a high threshold.
