Financial Times reports several hundred US lawyers have agreed to volunteer pro
bono to monitor next month’s midterm elections — the largest mobilisation of its
kind, according to voting-rights groups. Volunteers will support
election-integrity nonprofits via election hotlines and litigation against
suspected interference, including potential deployment of immigration
enforcement to polling places. Former deputy attorney general Seth Waxman said
he has worked on election protection since 2004 and has never seen comparable
scale in a midterm, adding, This year is completely different.
