On Oct. 22 local time the Saudi General Authority of Civil Aviation issued a supplemental statement on the Oct. 21 evening attack at King Fahd International Airport in Dammam, saying the death toll has risen to two—one Saudi national and one Indian national. Eight people were injured: one Saudi, two Indian residents, two Yemeni residents, two Bangladeshi residents and one Nepalese resident; injuries range from minor to severe and all are receiving treatment at multiple hospitals. Authorities are assessing airport damage and have taken measures to protect passengers and staff. Airport operations and air traffic have resumed to normal.

Guo Shougang, director of the Equipment Industry First Division at China’s Ministry of Industry and Information Technology, said on Oct. 22 at the 2026 World Intelligent Connected Vehicles Congress that global advanced driver-assistance systems (ADAS) have achieved large-scale deployment and autonomous driving is poised to enter commercial rollout. He said autonomous driving is at a critical juncture transitioning from being “usable” to being “user-friendly.”
