Elon Musk vowed to retaliate if Democrats, having won control of one or both chambers of the U.S. Congress, use oversight to investigate him or his businesses. He was responding to a report that Democrats are considering probes into him and firms including Tesla (TSLA.O) and SpaceX (SPCX.O). On his social platform he wrote: “He who lives by the sword will die by the sword.” He added those who target him should expect him to expose and pursue the real operators behind them, not merely their proxies. Musk has been a major Republican donor and has worked with the Trump administration through an initiative he called the Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE). His companies’ commercial ties with the federal government could face scrutiny if Democrats secure congressional majorities.
